Shanklin Performing Arts Centre CIC was created to operate the building formerly known as Shanklin Library, Victoria Avenue, Shanklin as a Centre to enable and promote Performing Arts particularly for the Shanklin, Bay and Island Community, and to provide a venue for community-based activities. The intention is to widen the scope of activities in the building to provide a Centre to show the history of the area, and to allow for display of local visual arts.
The Performing Arts Centre building was owned by the Isle of Wight Council, and leased on a long-term basis to Shanklin Theatre and Community Trust (the Trust), a Company limited by guarantee and a Registered Charity.
On 9th May 2022, the Trust finally completed the purchase of the freehold of the Performing Arts Centre building from the Isle of Wight Council.
